The four-day “Pando Conference” brought over a thousand people to the Claremont Colleges, including a large contingent from China. Its inspirational leader, John B. Cobb, Jr., set the tone, saying, “At this point, we either re-think everything or give up hope. So we’re re-thinking.”
This Climate Chat will both sample the Conference highlights, and bore down to some details gathered from specialized sessions. James Long will cover the big plenary sessions, such as the keynote address by Bill McKibben. Dwain Deets will report on one of the specialized sessions answering the question, What Should We Do Right Away? Beverly Harju will report on another set of specialized sessions on maintaining a moral compass, and helping to cope with the threat of increasing climate crises.
Sadie Mizisin- Cullumber, one of the organizers of Pando Populus, will give a brief introduction about Pando Populus. You can read more about the conference in SD350 blog post.
