Dear , If you are feeling despair about what we are facing in our communities, our nation, and in our world, you are not alone. ICEJ is working on ways to make space and to share our grief and to also support and encourage one another in our ongoing environmental justice work. We will have more information on this to come! One of the ways to go from despair to what Joanna Macy calls, "active hope," is to get engaged and serve in some capacity. We often hope that dedicated people or an inspiring leader will take us out of the challenging places we find ourselves. Yet in truth, as June Jordan so eloquently stated in her Poem for South African Women, "We are the ones we have been waiting for."
