The International Energy Agency said last year that if we wanted to meet the Paris climate targets “there can be no new investments in oil, gas and coal, from now – from this year.” But many banks still continue to fund new oil and gas projects. It is time for us to take action and raise our voices against these destructive practices. There are four banks that are the major funders – Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and Citibank. So Third Act is organizing a National Day of Action to demand that these banks stop funding new oil and gas projects or we will move our business (checking, savings, and credit card accounts) elsewhere. ICEJ has been working with Third Act and a coalition of organizations (including SanDiego350, Climate Action Campaign, Hammond Climate Solutions and the Sierra Club) on the San Diego event. On Tues. March 21 @ 11:30 AM-12:30 PM we will meet at the downtown location of Chase Bank, 101 West Broadway, Ste. 100 for a program including break dancing, inspiring speakers and cutting up credit cards ! We will also march together to Citibank just down the block. Please join us for this essential action. Let’s bank on our future, not their profits!! And whether you can join us or not, please sign the Third Act’s Banking on our Future Pledge and then move your business elsewhere!! These FAQs may help with that process.
