Interfaith Coalition for Earth Justice (ICEJ) is a volunteer organization of San Diego faith leaders and communities that advocate for climate and environmental justice both in policy and in the public square. We believe that the values held in common by all faith traditions include the care for creation and care for the most vulnerable in society.

We have a special request that will help people learn about ICEJ and the FREE events that we offer - and it will only take 5 minutes of your time.

We have been working this year to create engaging content on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, however the challenge is there are only a small number of people who get to view the posts. Facebook has 169 followers, Instagram has 142 and Youtube has only 8.

Whether or not you actively use social media, please support ICEJ by liking, following and subscribing to our channels. And when you have the time, check out our posts -  like and share anything you want to.  The more people who do, the more new people who will become aware of ICEJ. And that's good for us and (if we do our work with wisdom and compassion) good for the planet!

You may have heard that San Diego County is planning a major overhaul of its transportation system.  They're calling it Let's Go! San Diego and ICEJ is involved in collecting signatures to put this initiative on the ballot in Nov. 2024. Put simply, the elements of this vast plan would make transportation easier for everyone to use - especially those who depend upon it to get around - while reducing pollution and L.A. style gridlock. It would be funded by a 0.5% increase in sales tax (that's one dime on $20).  So there are three ways that you can help out:

  • To help collect signatures, please contact Emma Rodriguez at emma@sandiego350.org
  • To host ICEJ to collect signatures at your place of worship, contact Phil Petrie at phil@icejsd.org
  • Sign the petition at farmers markets and other events across the county. (Note: it must be done in person and you must be a registered voter.)

Since 2017, in the second week of August, the World Interfaith Network (WIN) has hosted an Interfaith Awareness Week.   This event brings persons of many faiths from across the country together to share about their religion and why interfaith dialogue is so essential. Rev. Stephen Albert, co-founder of both the WIN and the Poway Interfaith Team, says this event "started here in San Diego County but has grown into a seven-day celebration that has gone global.” The Network believes that "diverse faith traditions in our communities add to the richness of life. When we meet and learn more about those who have faith traditions other than our own, we find many more similarities than differences."

This year on Tuesday, August 8 from 6 - 7:30 PM, ICEJ's Co - Chairs, Yusef Miller and Phil Petrie will present "Earth Justice Unites Faith Traditions"

Please join us for this FREE talk at the Zoom link below.  For more information, contact: info@icejsd.org.
