Interfaith Coalition for Earth Justice (ICEJ) is a volunteer organization of San Diego faith leaders and communities that advocate for climate and environmental justice both in policy and in the public square. We believe that the values held in common by all faith traditions include the care for creation and care for the most vulnerable in society.

In solidarity with GreenFaith communities throughout the country, the Interfaith Coalition for Earth Justice will hold a pre-Inaugural candlelight vigil, "Bringing Light into the Darkness," on Wednesday, January 15 from 5:30 - 6:30 pm at the Laurel Street entrance to Balboa Park near the Kate Sessions' statue. Faith community activists and lovers of Earth will gather to shine a light of hope in the darkness of the harmful rhetoric and anticipated actions that threaten climate and social justice progress. 

The vigil will feature faith reflections and songs on the theme of light. GreenFaith is a worldwide multi-faith climate and environmental movement.  We also encourage you to sign this GreenFaith pledge – Call to Courage.

ICEJ will be staffing a booth at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. festival on Sunday, January 19, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.  The festival will be located at Waterfront Park (1600 Pacific Highway, San Diego, 92101) next to the San Diego County Administration building.  The festival, titled "Harmony Health" will incorporate harmony, health and wellness alongside the celebration of Dr. King's legacy. This will be a special opportunity for ICEJ to support the MLK, Jr. Holiday weekend with our focus on Earth Justice as an integral part of equality, health and social justice for all.

We now need the commitments of ICEJ working group members and supporters to be at the booth for 2 hour shifts, starting at 8:30 a.m. with set-up.  We will be connecting with festival attendees to disseminate information, have conversations and build a larger base of support linking our mission with that of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  If you can work a shift, please contact Phil at phil@icejsd.org.
