“Climate justice is the defining issue of our time, deeply connected to racial and social justice. I want to create a safer and more just world for my kids and future generations.” - Amanda Baker

"This March feels like reaching a hand out to everyone who is afraid right now and telling them that they are not alone—we are united. It makes me feel strong."
- Dre Andre

"I'm hopeful that this year's Climate March will illuminate this crisis for the masses and inspire more people to take action toward making our planet healthier for all its inhabitants." - Nicole Kramer

"Stepping up to join the climate march team has shown me that activism is less about the grand gestures that you see on TV and more about cultivating hope, compassion, and action within your community." - Luke Cole

"Taking direct action to raise public and political awareness on this issue feels empowering and like an antidote to despair" - Tim Schwehr

Climate Happenings:
National Policy Review #1

Trump pulled the US out of the Paris Agreement, withdrew from the World Health Organization, withheld leases for sustainable wind projects, and declared a National Energy Emergency to shift the country away from renewable sources.

Protests have rocked major American cities, demanding Trump reverse course with his hard-right policies. Grassroots organizations like SanDiego350 have begun the long grueling fight to take America back and achieve climate justice. Already, Governor Gavin Newsom approved ‘Trump-proof’ laws to protect the environment and those affected by Trump’s regime.

Meet our new Volunteer Coordinator: Emma

My name is Emma Rodriguez, and since August 2024, I’ve been SanDiego350’s Volunteer Coordinator. At UCSD, my alma mater, I studied economics. There, I joined the Green New Deal at UC San Diego (where I now serve on the Steering Committee as alumni rep) and became entrenched in studying the impact of banks on continuing climate destruction.

Because I love me some public transit (and hate driving), I joined SD350's transportation team! Now I am privileged enough to be your Volunteer Coordinator. I love this job- because my role is to talk to volunteers and spread that joy even in difficult times.

The Tijuana River Crisis

100 years, 70 billion gallons of sewage, 1,000 days of beach closures, and at least 2,000 residents affected.

Residents living along the Tijuana River have repeatedly reported unexplained cases of respiratory illnesses, their verdict being the hydrogen sulfide stench from the sewage.

So, what can we do to help? Spreading awareness of the issue at hand is a top priority. The next step would be to support local advocacy groups like the Surfrider Foundation or Wild Coast.

3. Get your news from social media: that is where the real truth is! OR: Take breaks from the news.
4. Listen to the sound of fingernails on chalkboards. Eeeeeeeee OR: Listen to your favorite music and dance!
