Interfaith Coalition for Earth Justice (ICEJ) is a volunteer organization of San Diego faith leaders and communities that advocate for climate and environmental justice both in policy and in the public square. We believe that the values held in common by all faith traditions include the care for creation and care for the most vulnerable in society.

Even in these troubling times, we need to give thanks and to celebrate the earth–maybe especially in these troubling times! Everything that we give thanks for in the season of Thanksgiving flows directly from our earth and the ecosystems that sustain us. We of the Interfaith Coalition for Earth Justice wish to show our gratitude for our beloved planet with our 2nd annual outdoor interfaith gathering on Sun. Nov. 23rd from 2 - 4 PM at Ski Beach Park in Mission Bay, 1600 Vacation Rd, SD 92109 (on the east side of Vacation Island).

We will offer prayers from several faith traditions, listen to the music of Kol Tefillah, and fly kites after decorating them with earth friendly words and images. Bring your own kite (as earth friendly as possible with appropriate decoration) or fly one of the FREE kites we will provide. Some light refreshments will also be provided. Please join us and bring the whole family!!

We continue our Hands in the Soil program with this Saturday, November 15th opportunity with Project New Village (PNV) at the Mt. Hope Community Garden, 4269 Market St. (Upas & Market). Please join members of ICEJ and friends of PNV from 9 - 11 AM for a morning of gardening activities and meaningful, light-duty work. Project New Village will supply gloves and tools but bring hats, water bottles and sunscreen.

Project New Village is a grassroots, resident-led movement focused on providing good food, building stronger neighborhoods, improving the local food supply chain, stimulating collective investment in better health, and maximizing the impact of investment to address social inequities.
