We’re halfway through California’s legislative session and we’re working hard to get important bills past their second house. As a constituent, you have a powerful voice.
That’s why we’re asking you to take 10 minutes to call and email YOUR Assemblymember on priority bills they’ll be voting on in August - bills to lower electricity rates and keep environmental protections in place. Please contact your assemblymember by July 20th. The ask is modified for Assemblymembers Boerner, Davies, and Ward, so please read NOTES before you call.
EMAIL / CALL SCRIPT
This is <your name> in <your neighborhood / town>, a constituent in District <number>. I urge Assemblymember <name> to vote YES on three Senate bills affecting my energy bills and community safety:
- SB 886 (authored by local Sen. Padilla) would ensure that utility ratepayers like me are not subsidizing data center infrastructure costs
- SB 327 would stop for-profit utilities like SDG&E from using ratepayer funds to oppose public power campaigns.
- SB 954 (authored by local Sen. Blakespear) would restore key environmental protections stripped out of existing law in the last legislative session
When you’re calling, keep it short but personalize if possible. Leave a voice mail if no one picks up, and call back later if you can. Read more about these bills in our blog.

When you’re using the Assemblymember’s email contact form, you could add information about why this is personally important to you. Ex. “My utility bills are alarmingly high, so I’m really concerned at the rate with which data centers, which suck up energy and water, are growing unregulated. Please support SB 886.” Use your own words.

- Asm Davies (R) already voted NO for SB 327 on the Utility & Energy Committee, so just ask her to vote YES on 886 and 954.
