Say no to SDG&E rate hikes!

SDG&E is asking the California Public Utility Commission (PUC) to raise our rates, again. Join us to say no to SDG&E rate hikes and to demand affordable, clean energy. We will provide suggested talking points. Check out our webpage with more info.

It’s time for the PUC to stop rewarding SDG&E’s underhanded tactics for increasing shareholder profits at our expense, while they work to kill rooftop solar and building decarbonization. Attending in-person is the most impactful (see dates below), however you can also give a virtual public comment here.

We are partnering with San Diego Energy Justice Coalition, including ACCE, Climate Action Campaign, Public Power San Diego, In Good Company, and the Sierra Club.

Behind the Curtain: SD350’s Legislative Advocacy and 2026 Season in Review

You may have seen the bills we supported on our blog, but how did we select them, what happened to them, and what did we learn this session?

A few wins worth highlighting:

SB 886: Ensuring data centers pay their fair share: This bill requires regulators to evaluate the grid impacts of data centers and prevent utility customers from subsidizing infrastructure for these facilities.

SB 868: Expanding access to plug-in solar: This bill offers households another way to access renewable energy, making it easier for more Californians, including renters and apartment residents, to benefit from solar power.

Your voice matters! You don’t need to be a policy expert to make a difference. A face-to-face meeting, a phone call, or a thoughtful message can influence how a legislator approaches a bill.

This year’s successes show that progress is possible. Join us in making it happen!

An Interview with Masada Disenhouse, Exec Director & Co-Founder, SD350

Hear from Masada Disenhouse, Executive Director, SD350 - interview from the book, Beyond the Theme Park.

I got introduced to climate change because my boss was like, “Here, read this IPCC report.” It was the second one. So I read the summary–the 10 page version. But I didn’t know climate change was a thing before then. I grew up loving nature. My parents used to take us camping, stuff like that, but I didn’t know it was a thing. And since then, I’ve been a climate activist.

The big area that needs to change [in San Diego] is really who controls things and where does the money come from? Those are the things that are standing in the way of actually implementing the Climate Action Plan. San Diego and a bunch of other cities have pretty good climate action plans at this point. What they don’t have is the political will to make difficult decisions that affect some of those big interests –the developers, for example–and they don’t have the money to go in and start changing things over to sustainable versions.

Meet our Affordable Energy Campaign Coordinator: Dre

What makes you passionate about climate activism?
Climate change is one of the few issues that touches everyone, but it hits vulnerable communities first and hardest. That unfairness is what draws me to this work. I came to SD350 because I wanted to get more involved in my community. I joined the events team because I love planning events, and the transportation team because I’ve always been fascinated by public transit. The more I learned about the systems behind our air, our transportation, and our energy bills, the more I saw that climate and affordability are the same fight.
