Exciting news for the Let's Go! San Diego campaign: Measure G has officially been designated for the upcoming ballot! This county-wide, half-cent sales tax is poised to raise over $300 million annually, which will unlock more than $1 billion in matching funds from state and federal sources which will transform San Diego's transportation system. Projects like moving the LOSSAN rail corridor off the Del Mar bluffs, building a public transit connector to the airport, increasing bus and trolley frequency, and repairing key infrastructure will be funded.
These improvements are critical for reducing our region's carbon emissions. Transportation accounts for 41% of San Diego's greenhouse gas emissions, according to the SANDAG 2016 inventory, with car dependency being a major culprit. Measure G would increase access to public transit, especially for low-income residents, and help cut down air pollution by 20%.
To pass this initiative, we need 50% + 1 of voters to say YES on Measure G. Ballots go out October 6th, with the final voting deadline on November 5th. Want to get involved? Sign up to volunteer, join the Vote4Climate Campaign, and spread the word! |
