CANCELLED: Youth4Climate Imperial Beach Cleanup

e decided to cancel tomorrow's Imperial Beach cleanup because of a likely sewage contamination risk from the recent rains. Because the whole area was flooded yesterday, every surface may be contaminated, and the air may be full of sewage bacteria & viruses as well.

Your safety is the most important thing to us. We are disappointed not to be able to see you for tomorrow's event. We are even more outraged about the level of contamination in Imperial Beach: it fires us up even more to fight for environmental justice in our communities!

If you want volunteer hours or to get more involved, here are some upcoming volunteer opportunities:

• 1/15/23 in La Mesa: Help us build art for a rally to demand climate action from Biden!  
• 1/21/23 in Downtown SD: Join a rally to demand that Biden Declare a National Climate Emergency
• Spring semester, virtual: Help plan our Youth Climate Summit!
  • Unpaid internships available
•   Spring semester, virtual: Help plan coordinated school Earth Day events (email Megan)
  • Student stipends available for select student organizers
