Keystone Pledge of Resistance Training
Feb 8 @ 5:00 pm – 9:30 pm

FINAL TRAINING: This will be our final training as we prepare for a civil disobedience action following the State Department’s release of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) which concluded that the climate impacts should not preclude building the pipeline (we disagree!).

Peaceful, dignified civil disobedience actions protesting the Keystone XL Pipeline will occur around the country if it looks like the President will approve the KXL. Over 76,000 people have signed up to participate so far across the country.

Attending a training is a REQUIREMENT for anyone planning to participate in the civil disobedience action. You also must sign the “Keystone Pledge of Resistance“.

Location is TBD at the moment. Once you sign up we’ll send you a confirmation, and will send the location as soon as we have one.

RSVP today!

Note: If you can’t make this training but want to be notified in the event we schedule a special weekday training, please RSVP & just add a comment to that effect. Thanks.

Monthly NOKXL Walk #7
Feb 23 @ 11:30 pm – Feb 24 @ 12:30 am

This is a chance to educate the public about the Keystone Pipeline and why it is so bad for us, our environment, and the climate. When we walk by with our giant 50′ keystone pipeline banner and nifty pipeline hats, people ask us, “What’s the Keystone Pipeline?” We don’t have to buttonhole anyone or preach over a microphone. People ask us.NOKXL2

Meet at the bathrooms in the parking lot just south of Belmont Park (map). From there we’ll start our walk carrying our “Stop the Keystone Pipeline” sign (and the “Fight Climate Change” sign also, if we have enough people) along the boardwalk/beach.  Hugh Moore will lead us in some great call and response style chants/songs!

Please join us for this fun and spirited event!

To carry the 2 pipeline pieces we need 8-14 people (it’s light, but big).  Plus, we need people to pass out flyers and talk with members of the public who have questions. So come and bring friends!

Please RSVP. Questions? Email us

Climate Chat: How Can Ocean Scientists Inform Climate Change Policy?
Mar 7 @ 2:00 am – 4:00 am
Come meet some local graduate student ocean scientists from UCSD and Scripps Institute of Oceanography (SIO) who traveled to Warsaw to educate policy makers at the UN climate change conference about how climate change impacts our oceans.

This is the third in SanDiego350.org’s Climate Chat series and is being held at the very cool World Resources Sim Center.  At this chat, you will learn about the experiences of these graduate student scientists at the UN climate change conference that they recently attended. This will be an interactive and engaging event and there be time for Q&A with the scientists.

Figueres

The students had the opportunity to tell Christiana Figueres, the Executive Secretary of the UNFCCC, about the importance of considering the ocean in climate policy decisions. From left to right: Yassir Eddebbar, Natalya Gallo, Christiana Figueres, Lauren Linsmayer.

We would appreciated your RSVP.
