Coronavirus

We will also create space for members to share our thoughts and feelings about the COVID-19 pandemic and discuss how to prevent the spread of the virus while we continue our climate activism during this difficult time.

SanDiego350 is taking the pandemic of coronavirus (COVID-19) very seriously, and urges everyone to heed to governmental precautionary measures in this difficult time. According to medical leaders, the coronavirus is spreading faster than our government and our doctors can track it, test for it, or contain it. As a result, SanDiego350 has decided to cancel all in person gatherings for at least the next several weeks. We will move as many events and volunteering opportunities as possible online and continue our work to fight climate change even as we fight this disease and its impacts on our community. As the situation evolves we will make decisions about future events. Thank you for your continued support and stay safe! Read SD350's full coronavirus update here

350 Network Virtual Happy Hour
Apr 10 @ 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm

In a time of social distancing it is more important than ever to find ways that we can come together and connect. The 350 network is powerful and passionate. Now when we are all finding ways to overcome the barriers of distance seem like an opportune time to meet your fellow activists across state lines.

SanDiego350 is excited to be joining with several of the stronger 350 groups, including 350 Seattle, 350 PDX (Portland), MN350 (Minnesota), and 350 Bay Area to put on a virtual social evening where we can share our wins, campaigns, and visions for the future — and socialize with familiar and new faces.

If this goes well, we'll schedule more events 🙂

You'll receive a link for zoom when you RSVP.

Earth Day Virtual Climate Uprising
Apr 22 @ 12:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Today's the big day! Join us to watch the livestream below, on the event website, or on Twitch  /  Facebook  /  YouTube  /  Twitter.

Earth Day 2020 (Wednesday, April 22) marks the 50th anniversary of the world's first major environmental movement. Unfortunately, a sustainable future for us and our children has never been more threatened.

This year, in order to ensure everyone is safe we will be organizing actions to take place virtually. We still need your passion and expertise in helping to create change for Climate Action!

The main virtual rally will be from 12-1pm with speakers including County Supervisor Nathan Fletcher, ICU nurse Shannon Cotton, high school and college leaders, and Bobby Wallace of the Barona Band of Mission Indians (Kumeyaay Nation).

From 1pm to 6pm, a series of workshops and panels will explore the Covid-19 disaster, environmental justice (in Spanish), the Kumeyaay perspective on climate, high school and college climate activism, living sustainably, climate activism from home, the San Diego Green New Deal, and more.

Local artists, music, and yoga mindfulness between the workshops will keep the day lively and build community. A closing session at 6 pm will refocus the urgent need for climate action. The complete program is listed here.

On the first Earth Day in 1970, 20 million Americans demonstrated for a healthy, sustainable environment in massive coast-to-coast rallies. This led to creation of the EPA and passage of the Clean Air, Clean Water, and Endangered Species Acts. We need that type of people power again!

Shaping Transportation For a Better San Diego
May 24 @ 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Join us to discuss the intersection between transportation and climate change.

With transportation being the biggest source of greenhouse gas emissions in San Diego, we can have a big impact on solutions by focusing on this area. We’ve learned quite a bit about quick change, and found we can reduce pollution, traffic and greenhouse gases. Together, we have an opportunity to shape transportation systems and practices in San Diego County. Please join us and learn how you can make a difference!
