Hands Across the Sand: Mission Beach
May 19 @ 11:00 am – 1:00 pm

Hands Across the Sand, founded in 2010, grew into an international movement after the BP oil disaster in April of that year. People came together to join hands, forming symbolic barriers against spilled oil and to stand against the impacts of other forms of extreme energy.

Eight years later, there’s a rising tide of grassroots activism demanding that we end the expansion of offshore oil drilling.

The coalition of organizations, activists and citizens around the world bring the message of clean oceans to local and world leaders.

This will be a wonderful opportunity to get acquainted with other SD350 members. The event is open house style, so stay for the whole event, or just an hour or two.

Your Donation Will be Matched

All donations will be matched dollar for dollar, thanks to the Left Coast Fund, up to $20,000 total. Help us make sure to reach that goal!

Rally to stop SDG&E’s proposed gas pipeline
Jun 17 @ 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm

Join us on Sunday, June 17th at Mission Trails Park for a rally to call on the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) to reject SDG&E's proposed new gas pipeline!

The pipeline would run from Rainbow down to Mira Mesa, possibly through Mission Trails, and would carry more than five times the volume of gas than the existing pipeline it would replace carries. The pipeline is expensive (costing ratepayers at least $600M), unnecessary, unsafe, and would commit us to building new fossil fuel infrastructure at a time when we need to be investing in clean energy and renewable energy jobs in order to avert the worst impacts of climate change.

And that's not just us talking – on May 2 the CPUC's Administrative Law Judge recommended rejection of the proposed pipeline. Read our press release.

While this is a good first step, the CPUC could still vote to approve. So we hope you'll join us on Sunday, June 17.

The CPUC could vote on this issue as soon as June 21, 2018 so we need to draw public attention to this issue.  Let’s show our support for stopping this pipeline and protecting beautiful Mission Trails Regional Park and the wildlife that call it home!
This Father’s Day attend this family friendly event and show your love for your children and all life by standing up against unsustainable and polluting fossil fuel infrastructure development. Fun poster making, face painting, and hiking. At the East Fortuna Equestrian Area in Mission Trails Park.

12:00 PM    Optional: Make your own poster for the rally – we'll have all the materials
1:00 PM      Rally and street theater (with Santee Councilmember Steve Houlahan and Tara Kelly, Sullivan Solar)
2:00 PM      Optional: Short family friendly hike!

RSVP today to rally against the proposed pipeline, and help us ensure it is never built!

Also please join and share our Facebook Event.

p.s. If you haven't yet signed and shared the petition to the CPUC opposing the pipeline, please do so now!

California Air Resource Board- Public Workshop
Jun 18 @ 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) staff is hosting a public workshop in San Diego to seek public input on the development of Senate Bill 375 and the Sustainable Communities Strategy (SCS) program performance report and updates to its program evaluation guidelines.

This is a great opportunity to provide input to CARB on policy that will shape how the San Diego region plans land use, housing, and transportation strategies that will allow the San Diego region to meet its GHG emission reduction targets.

We are looking for SD350 members to come to the workshop and provide input to CARB on how we think the region should meet its greenhouse gas emission reduction targets. In San Diego we don't have many chances to provide input directly to CARB on critical GHG emission reduction policy, so this is an important workshop!

What: California Air Resources Board Workshop
Where: San Diego Continuing Education Cesar Chavez Campus
Room 103 1901 Main Street, San Diego, CA 92113
When: June 18th 6:00-8:00pm

If you are interested in attending please RSVP here. For more details on the workshop click here

We will provide talking points for those that are interested in participating. If you have any questions please email Ryan O'Connor at
