SanDiego350 Monthly Membership Meeting – October
Oct 15 @ 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm

Photo from August Monthly MeetingAt our monthly meetings we hear updates from our teams, talk about upcoming events and volunteering opportunities and typically have breakout sessions or a guest speaker. It's a good way to learn about the organization and meet like-minded volunteers. New and long-time members are equally welcome!

This meeting will feature a panel of student activists from the Sept. 20th Walkout

Student climate uprising – reflections on the global climate strike and what comes next

Hear directly from the high school and college students that helped make the Sept. 20 Global Climate Walkout a success. They will discuss their experiences at the walk out, what type of impact the event had, and what they plan to do to capitalize on the momentum.

You can also signup for the new volunteer orientation that will be held before the meeting from 6:15 pm-7:00 pm: Sign up here

City of San Diego Vote on Divestment
Oct 24 @ 1:45 pm – 3:30 pm

The City of San Diego is considering divesting city investment funds from fossil fuels, firearm manufacturers, tobacco, private prisons and other industries and is taking the first vote at the Economic Development Committee  on Thursday October 24th at 1:45pm. Come out and show your support!

RSVP here!

The city has pledges to cut greenhouse gas emissions and shift to renewable energy sources and it is not congruent with that policy to have an investment portfolio made up of fossil fuel companies contributing to the underlying problem.

The divestment movement continues to grow and the City of San Diego needs to be encouraged to join the 1,000+ institutions that have divested over $11 trillion dollars from fossil fuel companies.

San Diego Regional CCE Board Meeting- October
Oct 31 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

The San Diego Regional Community Choice Energy Authority is having their board meetings to discuss important policy that will shape the direction of CCE in the region.

These meetings are a great opportunity to come out and learn more about how CCE will impact our region and what you can do to influence the board to create a program that benefits all residents and promotes renewable energy.

RSVP here!

This an exciting time in the formation of CCE in the region and this is an opportunity to get involved in the decision making process. The ability to participate in local meetings is one of the great benefits of a local CCE program.

We can help to direct policy and show public officials that local, clean, renewable energy that creates well paying local jobs and benefits communities of concern are priorities of the CCE.

Rep. Scott Peters Town Hall
Nov 6 @ 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Rep. Scott Peters still refuses to support the Green New Deal. He refuses to reject fossil fuel industry donations. And he refuses to hold a climate town hall.

On Wednesday, Nov 6 he’s holding a limited town hall to discuss how well he's serving San Diego, with all questions screened in advance. This event, starting at 6 pm Wednesday, will be at University City High School – where hundreds of students walked out last month to demand bold climate action like the Green New Deal.

You can help SanDiego350 tell Peters that his foot-dragging on the climate crisis is not ok.

Join us outside the event to distribute information to attendees and sign up climate action supporters. We will meet in front of the school, 6949 Genesee Ave., at 5 pm Weds, Nov. 6.  Doors to the event open at 5:30.

If you are a constituent, please register for Peters’ town hall ASAP and submit a question. You could ask him, for instance, why he prefers small steps to a comprehensive climate action plan with protections for workers and frontline communities.

See you Wednesday! Wear your SD350 t-shirt! (Below: student die in at Rep. Peters's office)
