JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion) Team

Team Description

Our mission is to educate SD350 on the intersection of racial and climate injustices and to build a powerful climate movement with anti-racist priorities and inclusive practices. Listen, amplify, activate: We will listen to and amplify voices of BIPoC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) communities and others most impacted by the climate crisis, and take action to end white supremacy and climate injustice.

What we’re working on – what volunteers do

The JEDI team has four different sub-committees working to accomplish our 2021 team goals; these committees are focused on Coalition Building, Education and Training, Norms and Policies, and Coordinating our Team Plan. Current projects include:

  • Updating SD350’s policies and Racial Equity Filter (Norms and Policies Committee)
  • Member events centered around JEDI topics and initiatives (Education and Training Committee)
  • Researching and reaching out to local BIPOC groups focused on racial and environmental justice in hopes to build coalition (Coalition Committee)
  • At general JEDI Team meetings we discuss large JEDI-related initiatives we are working on and share updates from each sub-committee.

Team Accomplishments

We recently launched our ongoing JEDI Resource List, which has a varying array of media sources (articles, videos, podcasts, etc.) that focus on JEDI-related topics.

Fun Fact

The JEDI team schedules a monthly “JEDI Fun Night” in which we play a plethora of zoom-friendly board games and jeopardy to connect with one another and boost team morale.
