Heat, drought, fires, flooding! The climate crisis has hit San Diego County, but climate advocates have an opportunity to hit back.
SanDiego350 activists are calling on our region’s power provider, San Diego Community Power (SDCP), to adopt a binding legal commitment to provide 100% of our local energy from clean, renewable sources by 2035.
SDCP already says it will try to achieve 100% clean energy by 2035, if feasible. But climate goals have gone unmet and delayed for decades too long. Now San Diegans need a stronger, legally binding commitment to preserve our region and planet and avoid climate injustice.
What: Rally, march, and public comments with SanDiego350
When: Thursday, March 23rd. 4:00pm – Rally; 4:45 PM – 5-minute walk to SDCP Board meeting, 5:00pm – Meeting and public comments
Where: Rally – San Diego County Operations Center in Kearny Mesa (5520 Overland Ave, San Diego, CA 92123); Meeting and comments – City of San Diego Metropolitan Operations Complex (MOC II) Auditorium 9192 Topaz Way, San Diego, CA 92123
- Note: In the event of rain, we will move indoors at the County Operations Center to room 120 as indicated on the attached map. If you have any questions or difficulty finding us, please call Rebecca Smith at 619-854-9740
Why: Tell SDCP to make a legally binding commitment to 100% safe energy by 2035!
