That we pay the highest residential electricity rates in the continental United is the result of the California Public Utilities Commission agreeing to SDG&E’s endless rate increase requests.
The statewide energy justice coalition that we’re members of — the Affordable Energy Campaign — is coordinating a wave of public comment at the California Public Utilities Commission on August 13.
The meeting is up in San Francisco — we have one person going in person who can give us in-the-room updates — so we’re going to try something a little different. We’re going to have a half-hour online overview of the California Public Utilities Commission and of how to provide public comment, and then if the wait is not too long, we’ll have a virtual watch party until it’s people’s time to speak. Each person will most likely get one minute to speak.
We’ll send the Google Meet link to people who register. We’ll also send updates as more details emerge. (We’ll finalize talking points after the agenda comes out but we expect a lot of many people will want to talk about their ridiculous utility bills.)
