While we’ve had some strong wins on climate, our actions are nowhere near the scale needed, and the public and our electeds have yet to grasp the urgency of the climate crisis.
The increasing impacts of climate change require a heightened response and the use of all appropriate tools at our disposal including non-violent direct action (NVDA) and civil disobedience, which historically have been instrumental in raising visibility, gaining public support, and achieving urgency.
We put direct action on pause due to the pandemic, but now it’s time to re-engage these techniques to apply maximum pressure to the utilities, financial institutions, and our electeds to ramp up the transition to a sustainable, equitable future.
To that end, the Raise the Alarm Team will sponsor a workshop via Zoom where we will address the use of NVDA broadly using examples, and discuss goals, best practices, and next steps. If you are ready to step it up, please join us on Sat. Feb. 26 from 9:30 AM to 12 PM. For more information email us at rta@sandiego350.org.
