On Wednesday, September 28, 2022, the San Diego County Board of Supervisors will be asked to adopt a complex set of vehicle-miles traveled (VMT) regulations, proposed by County staff, as part of a Transportation Study Guide (TSG). Under State law, new development projects must not generate more than a set limit of new VMTs. The draft regulations San Diego County is considering adopting are much more complicated than they need to be, and include alarming exemptions which would increase industrial, commercial and residential sprawl in San Diego’s backcountry. This would lead to the loss of backcountry, increased water use, and increased greenhouse gas emissions.

Here's what you can do:

Submit comments to the County Board of Supervisors, either by email, phone, online, or in person at the hearing on September 28, telling them not to approve the TSG as proposed, and to remove the exemptions from the VMT regulations.

How to take this action:

1. Use this toolkit to prepare and submit your comments, no later than Tuesday, September 27.

2. Click the "Register" button to receive updates and reminders, and so SanDiego350 can track our impact.
