SanDiego350 will be hosting a Climate Chat on Climate Grief on Friday, November 17th @ 5:30-7:00pm.

“Everybody is feeling the grief, they are just in different stages”

Our guest speaker Shawna Weaver, published her book Climate Grief: From Coping to Resilience and Action and will be helping us explore how climate change impacts our mental health and outline how we can thrive.

Reminders:

Bring a water bottle, warm clothes since it’s cold outside and anything else you may need to be comfortable. Since it gets dark earlier, we are asking folks to bring a light, could be solar lights, campaign lamps etc.

We are excited to see you, under the starts in candlelight, with the sound of the fountain’s moving water, the smell of the roses and doing some self exploration together.

More about our guest speaker:

Shawna grew up in rural Wisconsin where her love of nature was instilled through daily life in an treehouse. In college she studied music, philosophy, and world religions before finding her way to eco psychology in graduate school. She earned her PhD in Sustainability Education and has researched human-nature interactions in several clinical and educational settings around the globe, including Boston, India, Puerto Rico, Cuba, and Peru. She spent three years in San Diego writing about climate grief before moving back to the Midwest earlier this year. She’s passionate about helping to protect and preserve the headwaters of Lake Superior, and focuses her activism on the intersection of environmental justice and mental health. She’s recently found helpful balance in working outside of the environmental justice sector, and is currently a music program director, a yoga teacher, and a musician in several groups. In her free time she still loves being among trees.
