Youth v. Oil is advocating for the Del Mar City Council to pass a resolution supporting the Campaign for a Safe and Health California and keeping SB1137, the state law passed in 2022 to prohibit new or modified oil and gas wells within 3,200 feet of homes, schools, daycare centers, parks, healthcare facilities, and businesses.
This resolution will be heard at the Del Mar City Council meeting. Please help ensure the resolution passes!
Please show your support for youth leaders. (Checkout this TOOLKIT with info on how to participate + talking points)
- Attend the meeting – in-person if possible (you can also tune in to watch online). The meeting starts at 4:30 pm (we are working to learn approximately what time our item comes up).
- Submit written public comment ahead of the meeting
Why does this matter?
When the law passed in 2022, Big Oil spent tens of millions of dollars to put a statewide referendum on the November ballot to try to repeal the law and at minimum delaying it by 2 years. We want to make sure that San Diegans vote to keep the law in place, and want to get our cities on record in support.
