CONFIRMED SPEAKERS

Sean Elo-Rivera – Councilmember, District 9
Councilmember Sean Elo-Rivera proudly represents San Diego’s 9th City Council District and is committed to the realization of his vision of “Opportunity for All.” He was elected as Councilmember in November 2020 and then elected City Council President in December of 2021, 2022, and 2023. Before joining the Council, Sean served as an elected member of the San Diego Community College District Board of Trustees and as the Executive Director of Youth Will where he worked to create a future where every young person is happy, healthy, and prepared to reach their potential.

Crystal Irving, M.S.W. – President, SEIU Local 221
Crystal Irving, MSW was elected President of SEIU Local 221 in San Diego, California, in August 2021. She represents more than 14,000 employees across San Diego and Imperial Counties, including workers in county and city government, courts, Head Start programs, schools, clinics, and medical facilities. Following her election, Crystal was also elected to the SEIU International Executive Board and the SEIU California State Council. In addition, she serves as Vice President of the San Diego & Imperial Counties Labor Council and as Policy Committee Chair on the Board of Directors for United Way of San Diego.

Barbara Pinto, ACCE (Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment)
A lifelong resident of Southeast San Diego, Barbara Pinto has spent much of her life fighting to make our region a racially just, economically sustainable place where working people not just survive, but thrive. Pinto is a seasoned community activist who has fought for wide-ranging policies and programs. She is a longtime member of the grassroots organization Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment (ACCE). She is currently the chair of ACCE’s Logan Heights chapter.

Daryn Tarasewicz – SanDiego350 Youth v. Oil Legislative Lead
Daryn is a junior at Canyon Crest Academy and leads Youth v. Oil’s Legislative Team. Since joining Youth v. Oil at 12 years old, she has been mobilizing youth around the county to make their voices heard in government. Daryn has organized meetings with elected officials, created bill ideas, and gave presentations in multi-generational spaces. Daryn has a firm belief that inspiring the next generation’s wave of passionate activists will pave the way for a better, greener future for all.

Masada Disenhouse – SanDiego350 Executive Director
Masada co-founded SanDiego350 in 2011 and has served as Executive Director since 2019. She is passionate about empowering people of all ages to organize, advocate, and build bold, intersectional grassroots campaigns and political power in order to advance climate justice. Previously, Masada worked for 350.org where she managed staff and programs to support the growth and development of over 150 local 350 affiliates in 350’s U.S. network.

Ryan O’Hara – Legislative Team Co-Chair
Ryan is a co-chair of SanDiego350’s legislation team and long-time climate organizer. During undergrad, he engaged in research investigating the links between anthropogenic activity, climate change, and human health and advocated for more just climate policy at several of UNFCCC’s COP climate summits. After graduating with a degree in mathematics and computer science, Ryan moved to San Diego, and currently works at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography as a computational biologist studying the relationship between pollutant exposure and neurological diseases.

Megan Nguyen – SanDiego350 Youth v. Oil Member
Megan Nguyen is a member of Youth v. Oil as well as a local animal rights activist. She became passionate about the environment after reading the book, Moral Ground. She’s believes in grassroots pressure campaigning as well as pushing for important legislation at the state level.
