From scorching wildfires to devastating floods, climate disasters are no longer distant threats—they are happening here and now. The Trump administration has launched an all-out assault on climate action, rolling back decades of environmental protections, firing federal workers who stand for climate science, and shamelessly calling the climate crisis a “hoax.” We march for clean air and water, for the protection of our homes, for a just economy with good-paying green jobs, and for a world that puts people before polluters.
On Saturday, May 3rd, 2025, thousands of San Diegans will march in unity, starting at 11 AM downtown at Waterfront Park. Join us at the Unite for Climate March to find ways to discover community and a thriving intergenerational celebration of life! Our partners work with us to create a strong foundation to build a future for ourselves and our children so that all people can thrive. We require endurance to face challenges from the Trump Administration and Elon Musk. We encourage everyone to speak their heartfelt thoughts in their own language, not just English. Communication is the key to spreading knowledge about the climate change crisis and solutions. Breathing fresh clean air is something we treasure, not drilling for more oil and gas.
Our message at this march is:
- Let’s come together for a healthy, green planet for all living beings. And now, more than ever, that vision must be deeply connected to racial, economic and other justice efforts. Be part of a unified, resilient, hopeful, engaged community.
- Climate disasters are ramping up and hitting close to home, hurting communities of concern the most. Wildfires, flooding, extreme heat – we can’t let this be California’s new normal.
- Trump’s onslaught is revealing a presidency that is vengeful and cruel: rolling back climate protections, boosting fossil fuel extraction, illegally dismissing federal workers, ramping up deportations, and creating a constitutional crisis to advance a dark vision of America that threatens our diverse community.
- We need San Diego and California to step up to the fight. Fossil fuel companies and utilities are trying to halt progress on clean energy renewables and electrification. Trump is escalating the risk of climate disasters. It’s up to us to keep San Diego and California on track – to lead the charge to defend democratic institutions and ensure California provides good jobs, affordable housing, as part of a healthier green economy.
- Let’s ensure that the California legislature passes the “Make Polluters Pay” bill. The Polluters Pay Climate Superfund (SB 684 and AB 1243) will hold fossil fuel companies financially accountable for the environmental damage caused by their emissions. Funds will be dedicated to funding initiatives that mitigate the damage of climate change and build climate resilience, especially in vulnerable communities.
