SoCal Youth ART BUILD AND MARCH: "Gov. Newsom, Stop, Drop and Roll on Oil Extraction!"
When: August 13, 2022 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Where: 2221 Morley Field Drive
San Diego, California
Contact: Megan @ Youth4Climate

On international youth day, the youth demand concrete climate action from Governor Newsom!

Join Southern California youth (and adults!) for this regional action in solidarity with a youth-led climate action in Sacramento! We demand that Governor Newsom STOP issuing oil drilling permits, DROP existing oil drilling permits and ROLL out 3,200 foot buffer zones between people and oil extraction sites.

Inspired by SD350's Youth v. Oil Campaign, which spearheaded these demands in San Diego through their resolution!

10am-12pm: We will meet at Morley Field Sports Complex to build signs and write letters to Governor Newsom. This is a fun opportunity to meet local climate activists as we spend the morning community building as we chat and paint signs at the park.

11:40am-12pm: We will leave Morley Field Sports Complex at 11:45pm to walk 1.0 mile down Park Blvd. to the Bea Evenson Fountain. We will be using this time to chant our “Stop, Drop and Roll” demands and use the freshly painted signage as we march through Balboa Park!

Please see more info and register for the rally at the Bea Evenson Fountain using this link.

Please bring sunscreen, sun protective clothing, water, snacks, and money for lunch if you'd like to buy lunch in Balboa Park afterwards!
