The North County team works to educate and activate individuals, elected officials, businesses, organizations, and governing bodies to decrease the carbon footprint of North County San Diego, areas including Oceanside, Escondido, Carlsbad, Vista, San Marcos, Encinitas, Poway, Solana Beach, Del Mar, and Census Designated Places, unincorporated communities, and northern reaches of the City of San Diego.
WHAT WE'RE WORKING ON
- Partner with the Plant-Forward team to push local school districts to offer more plant-based food options.
- Partner with the Surfrider Foundation’s Ocean Friendly Restaurants program to sign North County businesses up to reduce their single-use plastic use.
- Educate and provide opportunities for individuals and businesses to switch to 100% renewable energy from CCA (Community Choice Aggregators) providers, including Clean Energy Alliance in North County
- Engage business/tourists to promote sustainable action
How TO GET INVOLVED / Upcoming Meetings
The North County team holds virtual meetings via zoom most months on a Thursday, and occasional events for the community in partnership with the Pilgrim United Church of Christ in Carlsbad.

Other events will include a Earth Day event in April, a summer event in July and our annual Regiftmas event on Dec 6.

WHAT OUR VOLUNTEERS DO
- Plan quarterly social and educational events for North County
- Attend local events to educate North County about switching to renewable energy and plant-based eating
- Meet with elected officials in North County and secure endorsements and support on key issues
- Attend public meetings and write letters of advocacy.
- Produce informational posts for social media
Team Accomplishments
- Successfully lobbied Vista Unified to commit to going 100% electric
- Helped to pass electrification and Make Polluters Pay resolutions in North County municipalities.
- Participated in multiple events to table and recruit new members & hosted our 2nd Annual Re-Giftmas Event
- Worked in coalition to encourage businesses to reduce single use plastic.
- Helped to increase opt up to 100% renewable energy in North County.
Fun Fact!
The North County team collected almost half of all the signatures collected by SD350 volunteers to qualify Let’s Go! San Diego (Measure G) in 2023
