Policy Teams

Our goal is to help the San Diego community reduce emissions and other environmental impacts associated with animal agriculture by educating about and promoting a plant-based diet, as well as advocating for policies that promote the reduction of animal-based products.

In 2025, Plant-Forward Team Hosted “Planet-Based Eating: Where Climate Action Meets the Plate” @ Franklin Farm Sanctuary

WHAT WE'RE WORKING ON

  • Push the City to take action on their Climate Action Plan goal of reducing carbon and water footprint of meat and dairy purchases by 20%
  • Educate community about animal agricultures impact on climate change
  • Empower community to eat plant-based
  • Hold an educational event for SD350 members
  • Educate and provide opportunities for schools to increase purchases of plant-based products and decrease purchases of animal products in the school cafeteria.
  • Collaborate with other organizations

Fun Fact!

The Plant Forward Team was formed in 2024 out of a working group from the Food and Soil team!

How TO GET INVOLVED

The Plant Forward Team meets virtually every other week on Thursday from 6:30-7:30 pm.  Once a quarter, they meet in-person at local vegan restaurants!
