The Youth v. Oil team will be delivering our 1,300+ petition signatures to Environment Committee Chair Councilmember LaCava and Councilmember Von Wilpert. We will be going to City Hall before the environment committee meeting where our resolution will be on the docket.
We're meeting in Civic Center Plaza, outside of City Hall!
The petition asks the City of San Diego to sign a resolution calling upon Governor Newsom to:
1. Stop issuing new oil drilling permits and begin phasing out existing oil wells.
2. Create 3,200 ft safety zones between oil extraction sites and our homes, schools, and workplaces.
3. Develop and launch a concrete plan to end oil drilling in California.
